Navigating FEMA Public Assistance for Disasters

Every year, public power utilities lose poles, lines, and transformers to these nature disasters.  According to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), nearly every state has at least one active federally declared disaster. From 2001 to 2013, there was an average of 131 disasters each year, including the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy.

Navigating FEMA Public Assistance for Disasters: A Guidebook for Public Power Utilities describes the basic concepts governing FEMA’s PA Program relevant to public power utilities. It identifies common problems utilities have encountered in dealing with FEMA and shows you how to avoid a denial of eligibility or a retroactive request for return of funds provided and spent.
